What is accessibility?

Web accessibility is a process of website design which attempts to warrant that a website will be easy to access and provide effective to use to a wide range of possible users, regardless of limitations and capabilities, location, equipment or bandwidth.

Our Commitment To Accessibility

DEXIA recognizes how important it is to provide a website that is accessible to all users. As a result we are continuing our efforts in ensuring that this website will be easily used by people with disabilities.

Using Accessibility

In our efforts to be as accessible as possible to all users, we have made significant changes to our website to reach a Conformance Level A of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines on dexia.dm. Most pages adhere to Conformance Level "A". We have also attempted to achieve a Conformance Level "Double-A" or "Triple-A" on many of our static pages.

Accessibility components

We have included the following elements to make certain that all our users are able to make the best use of this website.

Font size

Using current web technologies for Cascading Stylesheets (CSS), you now have the ability to switch styles while surfing our Website.

  • You can use the "Accessibility Options" toolbar at the TOP (between the search and live support) to increase and decrease the general body font size.
  • Also, if you are running a standards-compliant browser, you can also switch your styles using the browser interface - generally FONTS or STYLES under the VIEW menu.

Navigation

  • All Our Menus are coded using valid XHTML and CSS. We have used Ordered list items for the TOP menu, and a Definition list for all sub-sections and database driven areas.
  • We have included Tabindex and Accesskeys features to enable those users with screen readers, easy access to the core content areas of the website.

Colors

We have exercised great care in ensuring that the website's background and font color combinations contrast considerably, and are helpful in ensuring information is still clear when viewed in different color combinations.

Headings

Valid HTML heading tags are used to communicate page structure. H1 tags are used for main titles, H2 tags for subtitles and etc...

Images

All the images used in this site include the alternative descriptive alt tag attribute. In areas where images have no use other than being decorative, the alt tag is left empty to allow easy reading of the site by all users.

Other Accessibility Features

  • Our website site map is available to provide information about the layout of the website.
  • Our pages are designed to be best viewed viewed at a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels.
